Irontec was present this morning at the general assembly of Cybasque (Association of Cybersecurity Industries of the Basque Country), which it attended for the first time as a full member of the GAIA technology cluster (Association of Knowledge and Technology Industries of the Basque Country), with whom Irontec will be able to develop important alliances from its entry into said association, approved unanimously by its board of directors last May.

As a representative of Irontec, Mikel Villar, head of the company’s Cybersecurity business unit, witnessed an event that also included INCIBE (National Cybersecurity Institute), as well as other recently established centers representing the autonomous communities of Castilla y León and Andalusia.

In addition to presenting various projects and profitable economic results, Cybasque emphasizes the challenge of making cybersecurity a cross-cutting pillar of commitment and competitiveness for the Basque economy and society, working towards a secure digital Basque Country. In fact, this is the motto of both the association and the GAIA cluster to which it belongs, aiming to bring relevant digitalization projects to Basque companies and sectors, as well as fostering “collaboration among companies in the sector to compete together in global markets,” as explained by Xabier Mitxelena, president of Cybasque, at the general assembly held in Donostia-San Sebastián this morning.

Cybasque, which integrates 67 companies and organizations representing 15% of the state cybersecurity sector, is committed to continuing to promote innovation and the integration of cybersecurity in all business processes, as well as in new emerging technologies, with a series of strategic objectives for 2024.

Irontec joins GAIA as a technological reference in the Basque Country.

In the context of the general assembly of Cybasque, integrated into GAIA, which brings together more than 300 companies in the technology sector of the Basque Country, Irontec participated in this meeting after its entry as a partner in GAIA was agreed.

GAIA, the Association of Knowledge and Technology Industries of the Basque Country, aims to be a benchmark in collaborative innovation for the creation and implementation of globally competitive solutions, based on proprietary knowledge and technology (Consulting, Engineering, Electronics, IT, Telecommunications and Gamification).

On the other hand, GAIA and ESLE (the Basque Country’s Association of Free Software Companies) currently collaborate closely on various activities such as R&D projects, the organization of international IT-related events, and more. Irontec’s representation at ESLE is also noteworthy, as its president is Iker Sagasti (Irontec’s CCO), and María Portilla, from Irontec’s sales department, manages ESLE.

All of this implies a new enthusiasm in the nascent collaboration between Irontec and GAIA, given that Irontec becomes part of the Basque Country IT cluster and GAIA gains a leading member in open source technology, innovation and technological advancement.
